William Barbero
Guitarist, Composer, Performer

THIS IS NOT JUST A GUITAR PLAYER...
William Barbero would like to achieve more with his guitars that simply filling time and tracks on a CD. He’d like to make music. As a multi instrumentalist, composer, songwriter and performer, the focus is not merely on hitting the guitar strings. It’s a slightly bigger picture, to provide emotions and entertainment with music.
Reasonably comfortable with other instruments too, such as keyboards, drums and bass guitar, William’s guitar style is not conventional. Initially interested in heavy rock, distortion and high speed technically fuelled guitar malarkey, with age and the realisation of long rock n roll hair NOT being an option, the view broadened and opened up new horizons in other styles of music. Studies of Jazz followed and, although he will never be up to the standards of “proper” Jazz musicians, William likes to contaminate his bluesy and rock guitar lines with slightly more sophisticated ideas derived from Jazz.
While listening to a cover by Mattias IA Eklundh of Kiss’ “Detroit Rock City” in Django Reinhardt style, he discovered Gypsy Jazz and from there developed a love for the style which still carries on.
By alternating acoustic, electric, jazz, blues, rock and all sorts of strange sounds, William tries to create music which is fun and interesting to play and listen to.
Working with Scottish Pink Floyd tribute band Mac Floyd is another side to William’s CV, which allows him to perform in large venues with a powerful live line up. Reproducing the guitar work of a giant such as David Gilmour is an honour and pleasure and allows him to connect with so many passionate Floyd fans around the country.
2009 sees the release of “While my guitar gently swings”, an important work of acoustic guitar which hopefully will be taken on the road with a live ensemble.
